Happy Birthday to the US Coast Guard!

The U.S. Coast Guard was established on August 4, 1790, when the first Congress authorized the construction of ten vessels to enforce federal tariff and trade laws. It was initially known as the Revenue Cutter Service.

With over 40,000 active-duty personnel and thousands of reservists, the U.S. Coast Guard stands as a vital force for ensuring safety, security, and stewardship of the nation's waters. They are recognized for their dedication, efficiency, and commitment to the values of honor, respect, and devotion to duty.

I served in the U.S. Coast Guard on a polar icebreaker stationed in Seattle. I circumnavigated North America and got to 8 countries as well as Antarctica.

If you have a son or daughter who is thinking about what to do with the next step in their life, joining a service can expand their horizons (literally and figuratively).

They'll develop some success traits for life. And even more later opportunities including GI Bill and VA Loans.

Happy Birthday USCG!
